Fresh Flower Care Tips
From the Fields of Golden Petal to Your Vase
You’ve created a beautiful bouquet during your visit to Golden Petal Flower Farm—now let’s help it last as long as possible! Follow these easy tips to keep your blooms looking vibrant and joyful at home.
-
💧 1. Start with a Clean Vase
Fill a clean vase about two-thirds full with fresh, lukewarm water, and mix in the flower food we provided.
-
✂️ 2. Trim the Stems
Cut each stem at a 45-degree angle to help them rehydrate and to adjust the bouquet to your desired height.
Remove any leaves or foliage that would sit below the waterline to prevent bacteria. -
🌿 3. Keep Them Hydrated
On the second day, simply top off the water instead of changing it—this lets your flowers soak up more of the nutrients from the flower food.
After day three, begin changing the water regularly, trimming stems slightly if needed to encourage hydration. -
🕰 4. Maintain & Refresh
Every flower and foliage has its own vase life. Remove any fading blooms as needed to keep your bouquet looking fresh and full.
-
⚠️ 5. Flower Safety & Placement Tips
Keep flowers away from heat sources, direct sunlight, and ripening fruit (which gives off ethylene gas and speeds up wilting).
Many flowers and foliage can be toxic to pets or children, so always place arrangements out of reach.
